Jürgen Klopp does not rule out abandoning his coaching career as soon as he leaves command of Liverpool, the club that led to the Premier League title after a 30-year fast and with which he has a contract until 2024, according to an interview with the German press on Monday.
“I will take a year off and at the end ask me if I miss football. If the answer is negative, then it will be the end of coach Jürgen Klopp,” he confessed to Sportbuzzer.
Klopp took over Liverpool in October 2015, just a few months after leaving Borussia Dortmund. He led the ‘Reds’ in winning the Champions League in 2019 and the FIFA Club World Cup. But the main achievement for fans was the English Premier League, a competition the club has not won since 1990.
